Casa Aurora

Un appartement serein repensé autour de la lumière naturelle et des matières tactiles.

Casa Aurora

When the light enters, everything else negotiates.

About the project

Casa Aurora is a 180 m2 apartment in the Jardins neighbourhood of Sao Paulo. The owners needed a home that shifts from a quiet morning retreat to a dinner space for twelve.

The original layout was dark and compartmentalised. I removed two non-structural walls and replaced them with a continuous axis of built-in joinery: a low credenza, a linen-wrapped screen, and a pocket bookcase that slides along a ceiling track.

The palette was chosen for how it registers light: raw beige marble, shou-sugi-ban charred timber, waxed wool, and hand-glazed ceramics. Cool at lunch, warm by late afternoon, quiet by candlelight.
