A design studio that works with daylight.
About the project
Atelier Norte is a design studio in a former warehouse in Copenhagen. The brief was minimal: open space, good light, and nothing that competes with the work on the tables.
I created a clean arrangement around a pair of monolithic concrete work tables that seat twelve, surrounded by charcoal felt panels to dampen sound. Daylight pours from three renovated skylights, and a slim wall of propped plasterboard separates turning space from the material library.
Every surface is functional, every colour is borrowed from the northern light. By four in the afternoon the studio glows without artificial addition.
